Compagnie Générale des Établissements [kɔ̃pa'ɲi ʒene'ral dɛzetablis'mã mi'ʃlɛ̃ -], französischer Konzern der Reifenindustrie, gegründet 1839; Sitz: Clermont-Ferrand. Von Michelin S. A stammen viele bedeutende Erfindungen: Luftreifen für Automobile (1895), schlauchlose Reifen (1930), Radialreifen für Pkw (1946) und Flugzeuge (1981). Seit Übernahme des amerikanischen Reifenherstellers Uniroyal/Goodrich (1989) nimmt der Konzern eine führende Position auf dem Weltreifenmarkt ein und ist mit 80 Produktiosstätten und Verkaufsorganisationen in über 170 Ländern tätig. Michelin S. A stellt außerdem Stahl- und Aluräder her und gibt Hotelführer (Guides Rouges, seit 1900), Reiseführer (Guides Verts) und Landkarten heraus. Umsatz (2000): 15,4 Mrd., Beschäftigte: rd. 130 000.
